Why the yard exists
Model ship building has a reputation for being impossibly fiddly. We think that reputation scares away people who would love it. Fine work is not a gift; it is a sequence of small, learnable steps done slowly. Our guides are organised the way a real shipyard works, as stages on a slipway: kit, hull, rigging, display, so you always know where you are and what comes next.
How we write
- Bench-tested. Every technique we describe has been done by one of us on a real model, mistakes included.
- Finish first. We show the detail you can reach, then the steps behind it.
- Ranges, not promises. Build times and difficulty are honest ranges, because every builder's pace differs.
- Sources named. Where history matters we point to museums and books you can check, from the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich to the Vasa Museum in Stockholm.
Independence
Paradepalscosmicparcl is independent. We are not affiliated with any kit maker, retailer, association or museum mentioned on this site, we do not accept payment for reviews, and brand names appear only to help you recognise what you will find in shops. The site is published by Slipway & Thread Studio Ltd, a small company registered in England and Wales.
